Great Books for Valentine’s Day
There are several awesome Valentine’s Day books that we at Small Hands Big Dreams enjoy. Here are a few of our favorites.
The first book is The Kissing Hand written by Audrey Penn. This wonderful book shows the love between a mother and a child, and shows children that even though they are away from their mom, their mom is still always thinking about them and loves them even when they are away! A great activity that goes along with the books is to make a valentine heart out of construction paper and paint and uses the child’s hand and a kiss or a heart in the center.
A second favorite book is You are My I Love You by Maryann Cusimano Love. This book is great for young children because it has a great cadence and rhythm in the structure of the story. It is also a great book that discusses the love between a father and a child, and the idea that love in unconditional.
The final book that is great for young children for Valentine’s Day is, The Day It Rained Hearts by Felicia Bond. This book is nice because it talks about what valentines are and who we give them to, which gives a good context for kids.
We here at Small Hands Big Dreams hope you have a very Happy Valentine’s Day and get to share it with those you care about and love the most!
